Shadows of Doubt and four more games

It has been quite a week in terms of releases and announcements. We have seen things come out from both small and big studios alike. Some better than others, as is always the case. And the same can be said about the Puzzle Fest that has been running on Steam since April 24, 2023.

I obviously had to experience a bunch of lackluster and broken games as I alwyas do during events like these. But somewhere deep inside the various sub-genres and their lists, I found some really good games, or at the very least games with great potential.

So, what games did I find interesting and worthy of mention? The Court Of Wanderers by Lennart Bours, Tales from Candleforth by Under the Bed Games, and Star Stuff by Animo Games Studio were the three out of five games that stood out the most.

Something else that forced their way into the spotlight this week was the playtests for Dungeon Golf by Ant Workshop, Landnama by Sonderland, and the announcement for Soulash 2 by Artur Smiarowski. Yes, it seems like we will be getting a new Soulash game at some point.

This is just a tiny sample of what came to light this week, and as you can imagine, I have far more games to share with you. But before I do, I have to share this week’s list unless we want it to be buried by everything else.

Sales and my guilty pleasure

I do not know if you took note of me mentioning Landnama by Sonderland in the beginning. But this is my guilty pleasure for the rest of the week unless my system breaks down while pointing a finger at me and laughing. It would not be the first time.

You are obviously free to follow my lead and do the same. If you are into colony builders that is. If not, you might be better off taking a look at some games that will be on sale until May 1, 2023, when Steam Puzzle Fest ends.

Needless to say, maybe. But there are many games on sale during the event. Some of the said games are Path of Ra by Oneiric Tales, Whateverland by Caligari Games, Wilderplace by Saman Bemel-Benrud, Intruder In Antiquonia by Aruma Studios, Where Cards Fall by The Game Band are some games I think is worth a look.

And last but not least, Dorfromantik by Toukana Interactive who are celebrating their one year anniversary. Yes, I am going to end this week’s list on a celebratory note. I mean, it is not often you see or hear me in a festive spirit. So enjoy it while it lasts, which is for the duration of this sentence.

With all that said, I am going to tap out for this week and go eat a cupcake before getting back to answering emails and playing games. OK, the latter might have to wait as I have a bunch of emails to wade through. I guess I could press “empty inbox” …

Take care!
