Kickstarter Spotlight – The Girl from Arkanya

Some of my fondest memories of gaming as a child were playing The Legend of Zelda games. Specifically A Link to the Past. So when I stumbled upon The Girl from Arkanya on twitter I was instantly drawn in. Plus you have a Capybara as a companion and that’s just adorable!

The game

The Girl from Arkanya launched their Kickstarter today with a goal set for a reasonable $10,000 USD. The Girl from Arkanya is a top-down treasure hunting RPG, hearkening back to the old 2D Legend of Zelda games. In it, you will explore the jungles of Amazonia as Marisa, alongside her Capybara companion! It is planned for a multi-platform release, with the beta being on PC

The Arkanya Team is working alongside Top Hat Studios to bring The Girl from Arkanya to Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One, as well as Steam and Itch.io. Backers will receive the game on the platform of their choosing, though beta access will be through Steam and Itch only.

The game has a gorgeous art style and looks to have real smooth gameplay to it. In it you play Marisa, a young adventurer with big dreams to be the greatest treasure hunter. You have a Capybara companion that will help you solve the many puzzles and challenges before you. Danger will be lurking wherever you go, keeping you on your toes throughout the game.

At the time of this writing, the game has raised 50% of its goal. There are stretch goals posted such as couch co-op and Dialogue Portraits. More to come after but they’re unknown currently.
